VAAM Gallery Artists of McPherson Arts Alliance will be returning for their 15th Annual residency at the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main St., Lindsborg, from Sunday, July 23rd through Saturday, July 29th. VAAM Gallery artists will work simultaneously in a variety of mediums to create an interesting time for people who visit the Red Barn Studio. Each one of the artists brings unique interests and styles as they work as a group during their residency. The group members who plan to participate at the Red Barn Studio are: Wayne Conyers, Sarah Ash (jewelry) Jill Brax (mixed media) Louise Hutchison (oils/pastels) Chris Hershberger (sculpture) Carrie Becker (ceramics) Melicia Evans (mixed media) Elizabeth Liljegren watercolor/gouache) and Betty Jo Houchen (terra cotta clay.) Wayne Conyers will concentrate on painting while at the Red Barn Studio and the “ambiguities of altered realities suggested by current research in theoretical physics. One of the pieces I’ll be working on is ‘When Various Forms of Exotic Matter Separate, The Dimensional Shift Is Usually to the Left.” He is “fascinated by concepts that suggest there may be more to what we experience as ‘real’ than we know.” The VAAM group looks forward to their yearly residency for camaraderie and sharing ideas and good food.
