February 13th-27th, 2024 Artist-in-Residence Ruth Moritz of Salina, KS, is using her time in the studio to prepare for a collaborative exhibit with Chicago-based artist James Kinser for their joint exhibit “Portmanteau,” scheduled for display at the Sandzen Gallery in late 2024. Moritz will be working on the creation of a large folio consisting of nine collage pages, each illustrating nine stanzas of a narrative poem. These vertical pages measure approx. 3’x4’, will be composed of a collage of her photographs printed on industrial-grade vinyl, which will undergo stitching, painting, and other alterations.
During her residency, Moritz is using the schematic and printed component for each of the nine pages and utilizing the spacious studio, large worktables and uninterrupted time to complete the assembly and stitching process. To view more of Moritz’s work, follow her on Instagram @ideaimages
