Jim Simpson, Wichita, will be the Artist in Residence at the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main, Lindsborg, Tuesday, May 15 to Sunday, May 20. On Saturday, May 19, 9AM to Noon.
Simpson will have a workshop, “Art of Exploration” for kids ages 8-13 years, covering the subjects of making art. The class will explore multiple representational compositions from non-objective painted color fields. Students, min, 4, max, 8. $15 members, $20 nonmembers, all supplies provided. Jim Simpson is a professional designer and artist. While at the Red Barn Studio, he will be looking for an opportunity to work “in an unfamiliar location, for the new sights and inspiration that the experience would bring with it.” Simpson’s expressionistic realism refines rhythms and patterns into fresh and lively compositions. His paintings have been included in several Kansas Watercolor Society 7-State Exhibitions, including a Purchase Award piece and he has, also, painted five statues for Wichita’s “Keeper on Parade” project. Jim Simpson received a Bachelor’s degree from Wichita State in graphic design.
