Glenn Schafer, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, will be the artist-in-residence at The Red Barn Studio from September 3rd to 15th.
During his residency, Glenn plans to create a series of small photographs paired with single lines of poetry. The project aims to capture random moments in time, offering viewers a chance to connect their own memories and thoughts with the artwork. Each piece, termed “LanyArt,” will be displayed in lanyards, with a photograph on the front and a poetic line on the back. This approach is inspired by Glenn’s experiences in federal government meetings, where identity is often signified by lanyards.
With a background rooted in the normalcy of everyday life on a small family farm, Glenn’s work is deeply personal and emphasizes the importance of being present in the moment. This residency offers him an opportunity to deepen his exploration of capturing time and memory through his art.
Visitors can expect to see images of ordinary everyday life alongside evocative lines of poetry. The goal is to evoke personal memories and create random connections through these visual and literary pieces. Join us for a reception on Sunday, September 15th, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Hermits’ Halo by Glenn Schafer
She sits there all alone
Prone to staying home
Face down one
With place.
He wanders as far as
The mind can see
To the end
Of infinity.
They wonder and wonder and
Worry that another will
Come and go
Through them.
