Shin-hee Chin, Artist In Residence
November 27, 2020 @ 10:00 am - February 28, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
Fiber artist, Shin-hee Chin, McPherson, KS, is the Artist-In-Residence at the Red Barn Studio, 212 S. Main, Lindsborg, through Sunday, Feb 28, 2021. As one of two major projects during her residency, she will be creating panels for “Splendor in the Grass,” which sets out to explore the beauty of prairie grasses, highlighting cultural and aesthetic roots of rural Kansas. In conjunction with the KU School of Medicine-Salina, Chin hopes, through the imagery, to represent the unique cultural heritage of the school and its vision for the future as an educational institution for excellent medical service professionals in rural Kansas and the surrounding area. The 2nd project will be “Embracing the Void: Winds-scape in the Flint Hills” which will be exhibited in public, along with a music festival on June 5, 2021 at Peabody, Kansas. Utilizing plastic woven nets and natural fibers, Shin-hee Chin plans to tentatively connect numerous existing trees in the site, envisioning the ideal and harmonious co-existence of human beings and their surrounding environment. Shin-hee’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally; visit her website at http://shinheechin.com/ for much more information and to see a more extensive look at her work.
