Nicole Thibodeau, Hays, will be the Artist-in-Residence at the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main St, Lindsborg, June 2-June 10. She works in oil, watercolor, acrylic and sculpts using cardboard, iron or bronze. The Red Barn Studio will host a “Full Moon” reception for Thibodeau during the 2nd Friday Makers Street Artwalk June 9, 5-8PM. She will have a watercolor portrait workshop for adults, Saturday, June 3rd , 1PM to 3PM, all supplies provided, where adults will learn watercolor techniques with a focus on composition and creating rich colors. Cost, $25. Members and $40 non-members with minimum number of students 1 and max, 15. There will be a watercolor landscape workshop for adults Sunday, June 4th, 5PM to 7PM, all supplies provided. Cost $25 members, $40 non-members with a min of students, 1 and max, 15. During this workshop there will be a focus on composition and creating rich dark colors. Participants meet at the Red Barn and are encouraged to bring a hat, folding chair and snacks or dinner. She will also have a workshop for kids, Wednesday, June 7, 1PM to 3PM, all supplies provided. Cost $10 members, $15 non-members with minimum number of students 1 and max 12. During the workshop, kids will learn basic printmaking skills using recycled materials and acrylic/tempera as the medium. Of her workshops, she says that it is always interesting to see how other people learn and create. While at the Red Barn Studio, Thibodeau would like to illustrate a couple of different books. She says that the Red Barn Studio is a “perfect place for me to explore my work as it is infused with Raymer’s work ethic and creative intention…I have been inspired by his imagery…and the diversity of materials is impressive. I would like to study his carvings and illustrations in particular…The Red Barn is a magical place and it would be great to visit and share ideas with the Lindsborg artistic community.” Along with many academic awards exhibitions, events and commissions, Nicole Thibodeau also graduated from Bethany College.
