Laura Baker, KC, MO, the “pie artist,” will be joining the Artist-in-Residence program at the Red Barn Studio,  Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, July 12. In her Pie themed cookbook, ‘Pie as Art’, Laura Baker will have plenty of mouth-watering paintings to look at in the work studio. Those paintings will be on display during the residency and are also going to be released for sale this year. More paintings will be in the works during the week, as Laura continues to build upon her illustration collection for her Pie themed cookbook, the now available ‘Pie as Art’, so will have plenty of mouth-watering paintings to look at in the work studio. Laura Baker illustrates them in different types of media, such as watercolor, acrylic, watercolor pencil, colored pencil and mixed media. More paintings will be in the works during the week, as Laura continues to be inspired by her unique pie images. There is much care placed in how each slice or full pie is posed for a photo, once Laura has baked them. Fabrics, antique plates, decorative forks, etc. along with dramatic lighting on the beautiful pies set the mood for the painting.
