Roland "Kickapoo" Logan, oil on board, untitled
This original oil on board piece by artist Roland "Kickapoo" Logan features the image of yellow trees and mountains. In good condition, this piece measures 16" x 20" and is signed in the lower center of the piece by the artist. Winning bids are packaged and shipped by UPS. Shipping estimates are available upon request. Born and raised in Kickapoo, Kansas, Roland "Kickapoo" Logan graduated from Leavenworth, Kansas Senior high in 1926. He played halfback on the football team at Kansas University in Lawrence, coached at the West Point Military Academy, and was a Commander in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the National Hall of Fame for athletic trainers. His art studios were located in Palm Springs, California where he lived and worked for many years. Logan won the Postato Prize awarded by the Salmagundi Club of New York City. He was also awarded the American Institute of Fine Arts Medal.
Kickapoo is known for his landscapes, seascapes, and American Indian paintings. He signs his paintings "Kickapoo Logan". Kickapoo’s younger brother Gene Adams Logan was also a well listed artist specializing in sculpture.
