Malm, Norman (1928-2011) old woman (small), woodcarving, signed on back, good condition, carving size: 4.75 x 1.75 x 2 inches. Norman Malm, (1928-2011) Anton Pearson’s son-in-law descended from a notable artistic family. A talented woodcarver, painter and cartoonist, Malm was a perfect fit for taking over Pearson’s studio. Malm’s work is known for its social satire relating to local and world politics. Tomtes, mythical Scandinavian figures, were another one of Malm’s signature icons. He worked in various woods, pine being his favorite. His drawings have been used as illustrations in newspapers, books and on t-shirts. Norman Malm was known for his wit, welcoming nature and contributing his talents to the Lindsborg community.
