"A Kansas Wheat Field" is an etching in good condition, signed "CA Seward" in lower right, measuring 2.75×4, total dimensions are 12.25×9.25x.75. (1884-1939) C.A. Seward is known as an artist, art educator and author of books on printmaking. Spending most of his years in Wichita, Seward was devoted to promoting the arts in Kansas. He gives credit to Birger Sandzen, whom he took classes with, as being a major influence in his pursuit of Lithography. The primary focus of his prints, were that of landscapes and towns. Seward was a founding member of both the Wichita Art Association, Wichita Art Museum, and the Wichita Artists’ Guild and then by 1932 as the Director and later, President of the Kansas Federation of the Arts.
