Buildings and birch trees in snow is an etching by C. Jac Young, in good condition, measuring 7.25×9.75, and signed "C Jac Young" in lower right and imprinted "© C. Jac Young 1938" center-left bottom. Total dimensions are 16.5×20.5x.75. Born Charles Jacob Jung in 1880, in Rodenbach, Germany, he came to the United States around 1881. Known for landscape and still-life painting, he was an etcher and painter and was a member of various etchers’ societies. He studied in New York at the Academy of Design with Robert Henri, Charles Yardley Turner, and Edgar Melville Ward. He exhibited under C Jac Jung until about 1919 when he took the last name of Young. He exhibited throughout the northeast, and his work is in collections across the US, including the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Memberships included the Society of American Etchers, the Salmagundi Club, Brooklyn Society of Etchers and the Chicago Society of Etchers.
